Atmospheric conditions are described under which ice is deposited upon exposed parts of airplanes in flight; formation which is found under different conditions is identified; studies of preventative means are described together with recommendations for avoiding consequences of formation; airplane was equipped with N.A.C. A. electric external air-temperature thermometers, and some convenient forms and surfaces were fitted, upon which formation of ice might be studied.
