Factors to be considered in drainage design for airports are discussed; prompt removal of surface water before it can soften up top soil is chief requirement; soil characteristics, slopes of field, nature of surface, and intensity of storm as factors in providing surface runoff; new factors of airplane loads and effect of porous backfill.
