New flux for rapid and deep carburizing, known as Durferrit hardening flux, is described; by addition of various ingredients to sodium cyanide Deutsche Gold- und Silber-Scheideanstalt, of Frankfort-on-Main, have flux evolved by means of which satisfactory case up to 1 mm. depth can be obtained; good finish of work after treatment; absence of distortion claimed.
