New entrance has been provided so that Port of London shall have adequate facilities for vessels of large dimensions; other works include new drydock, 750 ft. long internally, 110 ft. wide at entrance; diversion of railways for freight and passenger traffic to south side of main dock and provision of road access thereto; provision of additional 800 lin. ft. of quayage in main dock and increase of water area of dock by 15 acres; details of design, construction, costs, etc. (See also Engineering, vol. 128, no. 3324, Sept. 27, 1929, pp. 395-398, 52 figs. partly on supp. plates and on p. 410; Shipbldg. and Shipg.
