In view of favorable experiences with 2000-hp. 80-ton express locomotives on St. Gothard section fitted with Secheron design of individual axle quill drive, it was decided to adopt that construction for locomotives in question, but arranged with six driving axles instead of with three; current is collected by two pantograph bows of special design; main transformer is of auto-transformer type; control of motors is on new system; results of tests.
