Advantages inherent in regard to its performance and safety as compared to conventional airplane; arbitrary criterion set up presenting different characteristics which must be possessed by rotating-wing aircraft so that it be considered successful and practical; criterion is then used to evaluate merit of helicopter, cyclogiro, autogiro and gyroplane.
