Testing machine installed at Supermarine Aviation Works (Vickers) Ltd, built by Vickers-Armstrongs in collaboration with Mechanical Test Department of Royal Aircraft Establishment; it can accommodate spars having lengths up to 25 ft between centers of their end pin joints; compression or tension tests up to 100 tons in amount can be carried out on it.
