It has been found that train consisting of all new cars is remarkably different from train of old ones in tractive resistance; researches lead to conclusion that great resistance of new cars is mainly due to incomplete engagement between journal and bearing brass, though it is to certain degree influenced by property of oil in journal box, etc.
