Advantage of pointed-step type over usual forms of flying-boat hulls with respect to resistance at high speeds; take-off example using data from these tests is worked out, and results compared with those of example in which test data for hull of type in general use in United States are applied to flying boat having same design specifications; definite saving in take-off run is shown by pointed-step type.
