Experiments have been, and are being made with use of higher steam pressures, both in reciprocating engines and in turbine locomotives, as well as with pulverized fuel and rolling stock operated by electricity and internal-combustion engines; general object of these investigations is fuel economy; advantages and disadvantages of turbo-operated locomotives.
