These engines have been introduced for working heavy local express passenger trains; tractive effort, at 85 per cent of boiler pressure, of 23,125 lb.; capacities for 2000 gal. of water and 3 1/2 tons of coal have been provided; standard type of water scoops are fitted for picking up water when running in either direction.
