Central is building four-track line along east shore of Hudson River, from Manitou to Beacon, N. Y., distance of 10 miles; difficult conditions for railroad construction; existing tunnel at Garrison has been enlarged to width of 38 ft. and height of 26 ft. and lined with concrete: all of these operations involve excavation of 800,000 cu. yd. of rock.
