Todd Dry Docks, Inc., under supervision of and to plans prepared by T. E. Ferris, reproduce new and improved passenger liner Havana, from discarded navy hospital ship Comfort; length overall, 429 ft.; displacement, 10,250-tons; Havana has two triple-expansion, 3cylinder, vertical-inverted, direct-acting engines of 5000 hp. each; eight Babcock and Wilcox water-tube boilers with total heating surface of 21,136 sq. ft. were installed to burn oil under forced draft; refrigerating plant; electric power plant; navigational equipment.
