Twin tubes give Chattanooga additional access to east and south; landslide at portal and alternations between rock and clay in material tunneled; each of two tubes will accommodate two lanes of traffic, enabling rapidly moving vehicles to pass slower and maintaining at all times uni-directional traffic and draft for ventilation; each tube will be about 1000 ft. long; construction features are described and troubles caused by earth sliding.
