Conventional method of cargo transport in first half of this century is compared to methods of second half of century, in which cargo is being converted into units of standard sizes and these flow from consignor to destinations as if on conveyor belt with minimum of delay at each point of transfer; some other manifestations of this principle of unitization are described.
