Apparatus used consisted of heavy steel cylinder in which was fitted plunger 4 in. in diameter and 8 in. long, similar in construction to hydraulic jack. Results indicated general tendency increased impact toward higher speed, although increment of increase was less as speed increased. (See also Public Roads, U. S. Dept. Agriculture, Bur.
