Expressions developed for max range for three cruise flight conditions: constant altitude, varying altitude below 35,000 ft, and varying altitude above 35,000 ft; max range obtained by increasing cruising altitude as fuel is consumed; airplane configurations derived which correspond to aerodynamic optima for cruise conditions investigated; importance of thrust loading.
