Tests undertaken on 3-cyl 600 mm bore by 2320 mm combined stroke engine to determine energy in exhaust impulses available for driving turbine without undue back pressure, demonstrated practical possibilities of turbo charging Doxford type engine; 50% power increase obtained without increase in length; hydraulic accumulator injection system used.
