To realize savings in car wheel and brake shoe maintenance, Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corp applied dynamic braking to diesel electric switcher delivered to Medford Corp for service in lumbering operations at Medford, Ore; braking system consists of 35-hp motor-driven fan together with bank of resistors, totaling one ohm for each pair of traction motors, and necessary electrical control.
