It is possible to provide tracklaying vehicles with sufficient ground contact area to permit travel over deep snow of any consistency and over most types of soil; sufficient ground clearance must be provided in design of vehicle to permit tracks to penetrate depth where track load in pounds per square inch equals supporting capacity of terrain; development of track shoe designed to provide optimum in traction; possible application of design to wheeled vehicles.
