Equations of motion derived for aircraft of nearly circular cross section, such as missiles; it is shown that considerations of steady roll and lack of circular symmetry of cross section lead to Mathieu equations; application of aerodynamic force derivatives for flight not near flutter speed has resulted in theoretical predictions that agree satisfactorily with flight experience.
