Laying double 12-in. 460 ft long section across 31 ft deep ship channel to supply natural gas to Philadelphia Naval Base; somastic coating 5/8 in. thick was applied; pipe kept from floating by means of heavy concrete made by using barium sulphate ore; main assembled alongside wharf and carried by three derrick barges for lowering into trench dredged on bottom of channel.
