Review of various functions of airborne radar; study of design problems of system intended primarily for detection of cumulo-nimbus clouds, high ground avoidance, and map painting, indicates that power of 10 kw at 3 cm with 6° beam width is adequate; it is shown also that roll and pitch stabilization of scanning axis is essential; equipment description.
