Pacific Great Eastern is putting into freight service new 82.5 mi extension from its present northern terminus at Quesnel, BC, to junction with CNR at Prince George; line, leading through timber area, was subsidized with $15,000 per mi by province of British Columbia which owns and operates PGE; through line PGE can interchange traffic with CNR and it is hoped will become link in strategic rail route from United States to Alaska.
