Doubts raised concerning their reliability, following structural failures in several welded ships during heavy weather, in particular, almost simultaneous breaking of two American tankers of same type in past winter; as outcome of investigations, Admiralty Ship Welding Committee stated that welding as process for building ships has been entirely vindicated; with this conclusion Lloyd's Register of Shipping is in complete agreement.
