Block developed by Hale and Hale (Tipton), from wedge type pit prop designed to simplify operation of transferring weight of ship from keel and bilge blocks to launching ways at time of launch; device is assembly of two contact blocks and central sliding wedge portion, and weighs 60 lb; set tried under normal working conditions at Scotsstoun shipyard of Charles Connell and Co; illustrations.
