Installation embraces number of interesting features including first application of locked train double reduction gearing in British merchant ship; propelling machinery consists of two sets of geared turbines manufactured by William Denny and Bros, combined output being 8000 shp at 270 rpm; 225-v d-c current for light and power is provided by three 150-kw Allen diesel generators.
