In rain, snow or near thunderstorm, airplane frequently becomes charged to such degree that corona discharges occur causing radio hazard; in study of this problem instrument capable of measuring magnitude and polarity of electric fields at selected regions on airplane in flight was developed; device covers range of from 5 v per cm to 4000 v per cm in four steps with linear scales and is powered from 28-v d-c supply.
