Results of tests with 5 3/4 × 8 in. precombustion chamber Diesel test engine, using CRC L-1-545 procedure with certain modifications; fuels used varied in sulphur content from 0.12 to 1.43%, in cetane number from 41 to 61, and in viscosity at 100 F from 36 to 64 SSU; sulphur content most important characteristic of Diesel fuel, as far as engine life is concerned, according to author.
