Principles and function in jig and fixture assembly tooling; dock is 3-dimensional positioning device whose basic members are " straightedges" or one-dimensional positioning elements which are analogous to straightedges or rules employed by draftsmen; originally developed for aircraft manufacture, most important advantages of dock appear to be materializing so called "heavy industries" such as manufacture of railroad cars, locomotives, automobiles, and boats.
