Built by Hawthorn, Leslie and Co; length oa 482 ft 6 in.; breadth 59 ft; depth molded to upper deck 34 ft 10 in.; four Hawthorn-Sulzer 4-stroke supercharged engines, each develop 1100 bhp at 375 rpm, and alternators to which they are coupled supply current to single propelling motor rated at 3750 shp, max speed being 120 rpm.
