Two tankers, La Saone and La Seine, damaged on slipways by explosive charges, completed at Atelliers et Chantiers de France, Dunkirk, for commercial use; length oa 525 ft; breadth molded 72 ft 2 in.; depth 41 ft; deadweight tonnage 15,200 tons; capacity of tanks 15,000 tons; propelling machinery consists of two sets of Parsons geared turbines, originally intended to develop total of 16, 000 shp; speed 14 knots; method adopted in raising and replacing "La Seine" on launching ways shown in diagram.
