Fruitless attempts have been made to discover Trevithick's high pressure tram engine, first locomotive to run on rails; event took place Feb 21 1804, along tramway from Penydarren Ironworks to canal basin at Abercynon, in South Wales; after 1841 tramway was used by three iron companies as feeder to Taff Vale Railway and as means of internal communication.
