It is pointed out that size of vehicle is determined by density of traffic or by capacity of ancillaries by which it is handled; how various forms of transport have met problem; review of road (motor buses), rail and sea transport and consideration of relevant parts of air transport, with special reference to aircraft used by Imperial Airways. 36th Wilbur Wright Memorial Lecture.
