Road tests of 4500-hp unit will be made on Union Pacific to obtain information as to durability, suitability and operating costs; locomotive is 83 ft 7 1/2 in. long over coupled knuckles, 14 ft 3 1/2 in. high and 10 ft 7 in. wide; power plant consists of 15-stage, axial flow compressor, driven by 2-stage gas turbine.
