Narrative dating from exploration in 1828; gold discovered on Yuba River in 1848; river traffic, by canoe, scow and steamboats; Marysville itself never produced much gold, but in 1850 Marysville banks shipped out $16,000,000; river boat Phoenix fitted out as dredge in 1850, but was not successful; since 1900, Yuba gold dredging fields have yielded about $100,000,000.
