U-type barge, Gulf Coast No. 1, of all welded construction, 140 by 52 by 11 ft, built at Bethelehem Steel Co Beaumont yard, for Gulf Coast Drilling Co; hull is divided into various compartments forming four ballast tanks and one fresh water tank, 950-bbl capacity; substructure is capable of supporting 250,000 lb per derrick leg, plus regular incidental loads; powered with three Diesel engines with dual fuel connections.
