Modernization of yard facilities at Armourdale, Kan, being carried out by Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific; portion of old flat yard was converted into 40-track hump retarder classification yard with daily capacity of 4000 cars; other changes made to obtain receiving and departure tracks of sufficient length to permit 125-car trains to be handled without doubling; communication network installed includes loudspeakers, radio, telephones, teletype and intercommunicating units.
