Heat treated detachable jaws used in India and Pakistan; jaw can be made from rolled steel section, and can be blanked from rolled bar, and formed to shape, with heat treatment; when key is driven between jaw and rail foot, jaw is in spring tension, and key is held with resilient and positive grip; taper key grips side of rail foot, taking up all manufacturing tolerances and clearances between components, and prevents chafing at rail seat by ensuring fixed position for rail.
