Planing surface and yawed hull of displacement vessel are almost invariably of low aspect ratio, and both operate incompressible fluid; need occasionally arises for estimating lift characteristics without entering into elaborate calculations; since no simple theory is available, correlation of available data on lifting characteristics of low aspect ratio surfaces operating under various conditions was attempted.
