Single screw, 15-knot, 10,800-ton vessel built by John Brown and Co, for Ellerman Lines; length oa 480 ft 4 in.; breadth molded 61 ft 6 in.; depth to shelter deck 41 ft 9 in.; draft loaded 28 ft 8 7/8 in.; main turbines designed in collaboration with Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Co, are designed for initial steam pressure of 275 psi (gage), steam temperature of 640 F and vacuum of 28.5 in. of Hg at top of condenser.
