Paper deals with Coasters engaged in coal carrying trades around coast and to neighboring continental ports; main objects of research carried out at William Froude Laboratory, Teddington, were to determine effects on resistance and power for propulsion of changes in block coefficient, and on propulsive efficiency of variation in engine revolutions.
