Experiments made at Teishinsho Ship Experiment Tank, Tokyo, Japan, on interrelation between optimum diameter of propeller of single screw ship and bottom condition in smooth water; two ship models representing 450-ft single screw cargo liners, and 17 propellers, with different diameter, blade area, etc, were used; conclusions drawn from results of 83 self-propulsion tests.
