Study examines 46 automobile collisions with 82 child occupants; emphasis was placed on mechanism of injury production and child collision kinematics; number of case examples illustrate injury patterns; example cases of effects of collisions in pregnancy and cases of restrained children are included; childhood growth characteristics as they affect injury patterns and restraint system; analysis of current types of restraint systems and recommendations made; collision and comfort-convenience requirements of "ideal" restraint system are listed.
