Conveyor-train concept offers new dimension in automated transportation system that appears to lower significantly bulk transportation costs in certain applications; advantages of modular conveyor-train are stressed; two systems are available -- American Dashaveyor (see Engineering Index 1967 p 1598) and French Seccam; comparison of both systems is made and their particular advantages discussed; at variance with Dashaveyor concept Seccam trains are not directly powered but driven externally by electric-powered rubber-tired drive stations, mounted beside track; flexibility of operation and ability of climbing grades by either system are stressed.
