Approximate maximum capacities of LNG surface transportation equipment and comparative first costs (per Mcf capacity) of LNG surface transportation equipment are presented for railroad tank car, highway trailer, or truck and skid mounted vessels in order to determine optimum distribution system for LNG; optimum-capacity trailer running 40 hr week may move more LNG than tank car if shipping distance is less than 300 mi; optimum highway trailer is considered to carry 38,200 lb of LNG at operating pressure of 30 psi.
