Mathematical analysis developed which couples mass transport in rocket chamber with energy transport in solid propellant; one-dimensional model proposed considers sinusoidal perturbations, allowing for exponential growth of disturbance; analysis uses energy balance for burning solid propellant that accounts for energy accumulation in solid and mass balance on rocket chamber that considers mass accumulation in gas chamber; resultant equations are subjected to perturbation analysis with final form reducing to expression relating frequency of nonacoustic oscillations to characteristic length of chamber; data were obtained with AP-PBAA propellant containing 5% aluminum.
