Results of experimental study of curious instability phenomenon occurring in response of vibrating, partially liquid filled, elastic tank are described; instability occurs in neighborhood of resonant breathing modes of coupled system and is noted by periodic LF modulation of tank motion and by simultaneous LF resonance of free surface of liquid in rotationally symmetric mode; response characteristics of both tank and liquid motion are given which demonstrate significant nonlinear behavior.
