Fundamental aspects of problem of controlling attitude of satellite are considered illustrating factors involved by reference to program of attitude control development in Elliott-Automation; basic concept in control system is control loop itself; as example, control loop from Stage 1 attitude control for Skylark sounding rocket is shown; design considerations for components of control loop are considered, in particular, Sun sensor, signal processor module, and actuator system; propane control system installed in Skylark nose cone is also described.
