Problems of cold forming of ship hull frames using numerical control; discussion is given of theoretical aspects of problem and summary of tests which have been carried out, leading to design of automatic three-point bending machine; it is suggested that bending, marking and punching, drilling and burning should be associated with same machine; discussion of paper by others gives information about development of prototype at Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson with sponsorship of British Ship Research Assn and referring also to present design study, considers dimensioning suggested in present paper, etc.
